PANJIM: Just three days into their five-day Windsurfing Summer Camp, Goa’s youngsters are showing that they take naturally to the water. By the third day, the trainees of the Goa Yachting Association’s (GYA) Windsurfing Summer Camp at Dolphin Adventure Sports, Hawaii Beach, Dona Paula, are already up on their boards and harnessing the wind.
Under the watchful eyes of their coach, former Nation Windsurfing Champion Derrick Menezes and his associates, the 10 trainees are well on their way to being able to independently navigate a windsurfing board in the sea. The camp is being conducted at the well-equipped Dolphin Adventure Sports Centre at Hawaii Beach, Dona Paula.
“We are pleased with their progress and are watching them,” said GYA General Secretary Siddharth Satardekar, who said that the State Windsurfing Championships would be held at Hawaii Beach from May 6 to 8, followed by the All India Windsurfing Championship from May 11 to 15, also at Dolphin Adventure Sports Centre, Hawaii Beach.
The next summer camp will be held from April 26 to 30, also at Dolphin Adventure Sports Centre, Hawaii Beach, Dona Paula. Only 10 students (between the age group of 10 and 15) are admitted to the camp. Those interested contact Siddharth Satardekar or Derrick Menezes.
