PANJIM: Goa’s Yash Fadte sealed the semi-finals berth following his impressive quarter-final win against India’s Tushar Shahni at the Asian Junior Championship, held in Macau, on Friday.
Following his impressive straight set wins in the first round and pre-quarter-finals, the 17-year-old produced a similar result in the quarter-final against his compatriot beating him with a thrilling 11-7, 11-9, 11-9 win.
“It always feels good to win. The match was a close battle and my opponent played well but I knew my strengths and knew I could take him up,” said Yash after his quarter-final win.
Yash will be facing Hamza Sharif of Pakistan in the semi-finals on Saturday.
“I am all excited for tomorrow’s match. Hamza is a good player but I will give my best to make it to the final. I am mentally prepared for the game and will try to win a medal for the country.” concluded Yash.
