VERNA: YC Manora blanked Cortalim Villagers 5-0 in the GFA Second Division South Zone play-off match, played at Verna ground, on Friday.
YC Manora went on attacking mode from the word go attacking constantly through Shubert Colaco, Benson Fernandes and Clyson Pereira but the trio missed their chances in the first quarter of the game.
However, Manora took the lead in the 20th minute, when Shubert Colaco made his way past Cortalim defence with a brilliant solo run before slotting home past the helpless keeper.
Jaison Fernandes doubled the lead for Manora in the 26th minute.
In the 30th minute, Shubert scored his brace and team’s third for Manora.
The second half saw Manora dominate the play with lion’s share of possession and soon inflated the lead when Jaison scored the team’s fourth in the 58th minute.
Clyson Pereira the young lad missed 4 great sitters in the 60th,76th, 80th and 84th minute as shot wide on all occasions for Manora.
Manora scored the fifth in the dying minutes of the game through
Ivon Costa.
At Cuncolim ground, Cuncolim Union defeated Velsao Sports and Cultural club 5-2.
Samson Simoes scored a hat-trick for Cuncolim while Moses D’Sa and Presley Pinto netted a goal each.
Jowet Baretto and Ronil Azavedo scored a goal each for Velsao.
