MARGAO: Youth Futsal Academy organised The Winter Games, a futsal tournament for its academy boys and girls at Chowgule Futsal Court, Margao, recently.
In total 92 students participated in the tournament. Students were divided into four categories U-7, U-10, U-12 & U-15. In memory of the greatest comic book writer of all time Stan Lee the teams were named based on the Marvel characters: Thor, Hulk, Iron Man etc.
In addition the parents were given a chance to coach the players.
In the U-15 category, Storm got the better of Groot via the tie-breaker. Hulk scored a comfortable 3-1 victory to beat Hawkeye in the U-7 category. In the U-10 category, Ant Man beat Black Panther in a very close match that was decided by a penalty after each team had missed five penalties each. Dead Pool beat Dr Strange to lift the Cup in the U-12 category.
Medical Superintendent a at Hospicio hospital, Margao Dr Ira Almeida was the chief guest and gave away the winners’ trophies to the winning teams and the individual awards to the best performers of the tournament.
