PANJIM: The YMCA Knights Panjim and YMCA Infiknights emerged victorious in the 1st All Goa YMCA Infiknights Basketball Tournament (men’s and women’s categories) held at Don Bosco Oratory Panjim.
The YMCA Infiknights dominated Sonics Porvorim (31-15) and Don Bosco Oratory Panjim (40-02) to take home the Women’s title. Amish Lotlikar and Rachel Raposo were unstoppable for the Infiknights girls who blew away the competition.
In the men’s finals the YMCA Knights made light work of KJs Miramar (54-41), and remained unbeaten in the tournament that was played in a league cum knock-out format.
Shaun Aranjo (21) and Flobert Monteiro (12) stood out for the Knights, while veteran Big man Shiv Kumar (13) played well, albeit in a losing cause for KJs Miramar.
Fr Avin Carvalho, rector of Don Bosco Panjim was the chief guest and he was accompanied by Clyde Lobo, President YMCA Panjim and Roy Gaspar, a Member of the Board of Directors, YMCA Panjim.
The YMCA Knights Panjim, will next compete in the Dalton McClelland Shield (All India Inter -YMCA Basketball Tournament) to be held in Chennai from the Nov 11-13.
