MAPUSA: Young Boys of Aradi registered a comfortable 2-0 win over Brothers of Orda to lift the Friends Circle Soccer Cup, 2nd inter-ward football organised by Friends Circle of Candolim, at Candolim ground, on Tuesday.
In the third minute of play, Aradi Boys surged ahead after Deepak Redkar converted a cross from Rukesh Bale to give his side the lead.
Orda lost a glorious opportunity to level terms as Joel Fernandes missed a sitter.
In the 27th minute, Orda keeper Kane Barreto came up with a brilliant save to deny Cajie Colaco from scoring.
On crossing over, Aradi further extended their lead when Manjunath Gherde scored from a superb individual brilliancy to make it 2-0.
Young Boys of Aradi received the winners cash prize of Rs. 30,000 plus trophy while Brothers of Orda had to be content with runner-up cash prize of Rs. 20,000 plus trophy
Blaize Fernandes, Sarpanch of VP Candolim was the chief guest and gave away the prizes to the winners and runners-up in the presence of Ophelia Sequeira, Deputy Sarpanch, panch members Sandra Fialho, Ramkrishna Kerkar, Amaline Dias and mach officials.
