MAPUSA: Goan Football Club registered a resounding 4-1 win over Dunes Sports Club, Mandrem to clinch the GFA U-14 Bardez zone title, at Duler Stadium, here on Monday.
Dunes SC who had lost badly to Goan FC in the league encounter played their hearts out to hold their opponents to 1-1 draw at the breather.
After some probing finally in the 13th minute Young Gaurs player Bryson Pereira sent a neat through pass to his skipper Rohan Mangaonkar who scored with a superb placement to give his side the lead.
The Dunes players went all out in search of the equaliser where in the 22nd minute Aryan Vast got hold of the ball and moved right from his own half and scored with a brilliant solo effort.
On resumption of play, the Young Gaurs time and again attacked the rival citadel and scored three goals.
Goan FC’s Prachit Gaunkar though short in stature sparkled for his team in the midfield and was instrumental in two goals.
In the 38th minute, he sent an intelligent through pass to Clison Furtado who after covering some ground finished with a neat placement to make it 2-1.
In the last ten minutes of the match, the Young Gaurs hammered in two more goals.
Once again the move was initiated by Prachit who found Vedant inside the penalty box who in turn sent a square pass to Clison who slotted the ball into the goal.
A minute before the end of the regulation time, Eden Rodrigues who had come off the bench scored from close quarters to take the final tally to 4-1.
