PANJIM: Riding on Vishwanath Rege and Yash Gadekar’s half centuries, Young Stars of Moulla defeated Banaraman, Margao, by five wickets in the 42nd Nanda Lolayekar Trophy cricket tournament organised by Mashem Cricket Club, at Nirakar Maidan Dapot, Mashem, Canacona, recently.
Banaraman Margao won the toss and elected to bat scoring 159 runs in 31.1 overs. Sajid Syed 50 (40), Kaushal Singh 24 (37), Pranav Kamat 18 (20) topped scored.
Sahil Dhamshekar 5.1-20-3, Sachin Kulkarni 5-17-2, Nagesh Rege 5-28-2, Abhinav Yadav and Sanjay Naik one wicket each were the demolishing men.
In reply, Young Stars of Moulla managed to score 161 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 30.1 overs. Vishwanath Rege scored 61 runs off 73 balls while Yash Gadekar scored 59 runs off 80 balls. Jaypal Mada scored 11 runs off 14 balls. Sahil Neneka 4-20-3 and Subroto Sarkar 1-4-2 were the wicket takers.
