MARGAO: A 28-year-old player from Fatorda expired after being injured while playing football during an inter-village tournament held at V for Fatorda ground, on Sunday.
According to spectators, the incident occurred when Alister Vaz was hit in the groin area by a player’s kick or the ball.
“Although he was able to stand but he later collapsed,” a spectator further stated.
The Fatorda resident was rushed to a private hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
The body has been preserved at the morgue where the postmortem will be conducted today to ascertain the cause of death.
