PANJIM: Laying all speculations to rest about his disinterest in FC Goa after the tournament’s regulatory committee’s decision, Brazilian legend Zico arrived in the state for the third edition of the Indian Super League, on Tuesday.
The Gaur’s gaffer was welcomed by hundreds of FC Goa fans at the Dabolim airport. According to the sources, Zico would be meeting club’s new co-owner Jaydev Mody before making a formal statement on August 4.
It can be recalled that the then co-owners Dattaraj Salgaocar and Srinivas Dempo had hit choppy water after ISL regulatory committee imposed a hefty penalty of Rs 12 crore on the Goan franchise for not attending the prize distribution ceremony after they lost the final of the second edition last year against Chennaiyin FC.
The duo immediately sold their stakes for the greater interest of the club after being banned from entering the stadium for two and three years respectively by the committee.
And the recent development of both the co-owners selling their 65 per cent joint stakes to Casino entrepreneur Mody seems to have finally made the Brazilian football legend change his decision.
