MARGAO: Taking serious note of COVID protocol violations outside the South Goa Planning and Development Authority’s wholesale fish market, the Margao Municipality and police on Friday crackdown on the early morning fishing activities. Fish was also seized.
As informed by Chief Officer of Margao Municipal Council Agnelo Fernandes, the market inspectors along with police personnel from Fatorda and Margao Town took stern action against the violators and illegal fish selling vendors.
Despite the wholesale fish market closure, the agents continued to sell fish outside the market compound. Around 40 to 50 inter-State trucks were witnessed parked on the under-constructed western bypass road. Violation of all norms of COVID 19 was also witnessed at the venue. Drive will continue for the next few days and MMC will keep an eye on the illegal fishing activity.
