MARGAO: The South Goa Schedule Tribe Association and Fatorda Development Committee have extended its support to the BJP.
Addressing the media, Association president Camilo Barretto said the Association has demanded regularisation of the houses of economically weaker sections at Talsanzor. He also demanded that the government should declare late Floriano Vaz, who was killed in the Konkani Official language movement in 1987, as a martyr.
While demanding that the government fill up the backlog of vacancies in various government departments reserved for the ST community on priority basis, Camilo demanded political reservation for the schedule tribe population of Goa in the constituencies of Fatorda, Curtorim, Loutolim, Cortalim, Sanguem, Canacona and Quepem.
Camilo agreed that he had supported Vijai Sardessai in the last election, but had moved away from him as he has not been accessible to the voters after his election.
