PORVORIM: Admitting that Mapusa was a neglected town, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Saturday was confident that Bardez taluka’s most important town would get a facelift within three years.
“During the next six months major works which are under construction will be completed and within next three years, the face of Mapusa will be changed .The state government is committed to the development of this long-neglected town,” said Parrikar.
He was addressing a gathering after laying the foundation for the sewerage plant worth Rs 80 crore at Mapusa in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza, PWD Minister Sudhin Dhavaliker and Aldona MLA Glen Ticlo.
Dhawlikar stated that the sewerage treatment plant will have a network line of 21 kms, while D’Souza said the project will solve all the sewerage problems of Mapusa. “The toilets in Mapusa will be connected to the sewerage plant network,” D’Souza added.
