PANJIM: Sarvesh Kauthankerr clinched a gold and silver medal in junior 120 kg category at the recently concluded National Bench Press Championship held at Jammu.
Cancio Dias (two silver in Sub junior 105kg+ category), Shanoor Jakati (silver and bronze in 83 kg sub-junior category), Sushal Dalvi (silver in sub-junior 93 kg category and Varab Parab (bronze in 66 kg sub-junior category) were the other medal winners.
The team ensured a medal for Goa after a 30 year barren spell.
MLA Subhash Phal Dessai and Minister for Sport and Youth Affairs Ramesh Tawadkar congratulated the Goa team for showing a good performance at the National Level. Prasad Naik, General Secretary of Goa Super Bodies Powerlifting Association and International Player secured the Best Referee Award at the Championship.
The Goa team also secured the best discipline award for the first time. The team participated under the leadership of Prashant Naik and was accompanied by SAG Coach Satyavan Naik.
