Rickshaw Driver Dies After Collision with Parked Tempo on Verna Bypass

A rickshaw driver from Vengurla, Maharashtra, died after his vehicle collided with a partially parked Eicher Tempo on the Verna bypass in Goa in the early hours of August 18.

The deceased, identified as Laxman Tandel, met with the accident at around 4:45 am. He sustained serious injuries and was shifted to Goa Medical College (GMC), Bambolim, where he later succumbed while undergoing treatment.

According to police, the tempo was allegedly parked without adequate safety precautions, including warning signs and hazard lights.

Verna Police have registered a case against the tempo driver under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Motor Vehicles Act. Further investigation is underway.
