MARGAO: A buffalo is reported to have died due to electrocution after coming in contact with electricity pole at Damon, Raia on Monday. The officials of the Electricity Department said that there was leakage to the electricity pole and the buffalo died after coming in contact with it. Highest compensation has been demanded for the loss.
The incident happened when the buffalo while grazing ventured close to the electricity pole and died due to electrocution. Josevina Gomes, the owner of the buffalo suffered loss of Rs 1.5 lakh. She has filed a police complaint and has demanded compensation from the Electricity Department.

Durgesh Shirodkar, Goa Dairy chairman said, “Already the milk producers are demotivated due to the high cost of herding buffaloes and this incident happened. I demand an inquiry into the matter and maximum compensation be given to the owner who is at loss.”
