VASCO: The Verna police on Tuesday arrested three youth, including a 16-year-old minor, for assaulting a BBA student over some arguments on WhatsApp group, inside MES College campus at Zuarinagar.
According to the Verna police, the incident occurred at 11.30 am on Tuesday when accused namely Sahil Naik, Diptesh Naik and the minor, with their common intention criminally trespassed into the BBA block of MES College to take revenge on complainant Prathamesh Shetye (22) resident of Vasco.”
“As per the complainant, he is part of a WhatsApp group ‘Yuva boys’ in which one of the accused is also a member. So, four days ago the victim and one of the accused entered into some arguments in the WhatsApp group over fake post sent in the group. Their petty discussion turned violent over phone calls and finally accused Sahil along with his friends including a bouncer and a minor trespassed into MES college campus and located the complainant who was in the first floor of BBA block,” Verna PI Uday Parab said.
In fit of anger, accused Sahil first abused the Shetye in filthy language and further assaulted him with kicks and punches. Further, the other accused persons assaulted Shetye with folding steel rods and the third accused assaulted him with kicks thereby causing injuries to Shetye.
On receiving the information, police arrested the accused persons under Sections 452,504,324 read with Section 34 of IPC. Minor was sent to Apna Ghar while other two accused persons were lodged at police station lockup. Further investigation is in progress.
