PANJIM/VASCO: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national general secretary (organisation) B L Santosh and general secretary Goa desk in-charge C T Ravi arrived in Goa on Wednesday to review the party’s preparedness ahead of the 2022 Assembly elections.
During their two-day visit, they will meet party Ministers, MLAs, office-bearers and core committee members at the government circuit house at Altinho.
On reaching the State capital, the duo met MLAs, core committee members and late evening Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant at his official residence.
According to party sources, both leaders will meet with Ministers on Thursday at 8 am followed by a meeting with the office-bearers and seek their inputs to strengthen the organisation ahead of the polls.
BJP State president Sadanand Shet Tanavade, who received the leaders at the Dabolim airport, said that the visit of the general secretary was purely to discuss organisational matters and it was not a political visit. He also pointed out that though Santosh had visited the State in the past, this was his first visit to the State after being appointed as national general secretary (organisation).
Tanavade said that Santosh is visiting all the States as part of the party’s programme and that he along with Ravi arrived in Goa from Maharashtra. Ravi is also in charge of Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu, besides Goa.
To a question, Tanavade reiterated that their visit was not political but to discuss organisational matters and to finalise programmes to be organised by the party.
Sources said that both the national leaders will discuss the BJP government’s handling of the pandemic in the State and chalk out programmes for Yoga Day to be held on June 21 and to observe the death of anniversary of BJP icon Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee on June 23 and also his birth anniversary which falls on July 6.
Both the leaders will leave for New Delhi on Thursday evening.
