The teams are confident ahead of the epic clash with good balance and credentials in either side.
Don Bosco started as underdogs but ended up defeating other top teams to reach the final. On the other hand, Govt College Quepem showed a lot of character and determination which helped them stun tournament favourites Rosary College Navelim.
For Quepem, all eyes will be on key players like Jovial Coutinho, Alton Vaz and Menino Menezes, who have been pillars of their side.
Meanwhile, Don Bosco have all reasons to be happy with striker Amey Barad’s recovery from injury and will partner Sheehan Fernandes and Leonardo D’Souza upfront. Moreover, Saiesh Naik will return from suspension which will bolster the midfield along with hardworking Anthony Fernandes. Defensive responsibility will be on Paulo Joao.
The tournament has been very successful and special as it has promoted home grown talent at University level, something that was missing for several years.
October 10 also marks the 31st anniversary of Herald Publication Pvt Ltd, the oldest daily and largest of the State. The tournament has been named after Herald founder AC Fernandes, who was a firm believer of youth development.
Overall 16 teams participated in the tournament that was played both, in South and North Goa. More than 200 players took the field showing true passion and love for the game. Various players will benefit from this tournament as there have been many scouts attending matches who have kept a close eye on players that have performed well.
