MARGAO: The Goan fish traders took offense to the new system put in place by the SGPDA fish market wherein they are being asked to pay an hourly fee to sell their fish at the market.

The traders said that the hourly rates mean they have to pay a much higher amount compared to the one time fixed fee that they were paying earlier and they demanded that SGPDA revert to this system. They also complained about space constraints at the market.
However, the Chairman of the South Goa Planning and Development Authority (SGPDA) Krishna ‘Daji’ Salkar, who listened to their demands, said the ‘hourly rate’ system has to continue as it keeps a better check on the market.
