Media student pens perfect script, crowned Navy Queen

She may be pursuing journalism studies, but Sparsha Deshpande’s finesse on the ramp ensured a perfect script to get her crowned the Navy Queen 2010.
Sparsha Deshpande, a final year journalism student of St Xavier’s College at Mapusa was crowned the ‘Navy Queen 2010’ at the beauty pageant hosted by Indian Navy at the Navy Ball.
Karen Serrao, a final year BPharm student from PES College of Pharmacy, Ponda, was adjudged the first runners-up and also won the Miss Catwalk title.
Richa Lotliker, a fourth year law student from Kare College of Law, Margao, was declared the second runners-up.
Ekta Kaur, a commerce graduate from Elphinstone College, Mumbai, was judged to have the most beautiful smile.
Bollywood actors Meghna Naidu, Vatsal Seth, Jeniffer Kotwal, the renowned Goan photographer Prasad Pankar helped Rama Pillai judge the keenly contested Navy Queen Pageant.
Earlier, FOGA Rear Admiral Sudhir Pillai, set the ball-rolling at the Naval Officers’ Institute, Dabolim on Saturday evening, in the traditional naval manner to inaugurate this year’s Navy Ball.
‘Edwin and the Bandwagon’ belted out vibrant and foot-tapping music. The gathering was regaled with acrobatic dance and breathtaking displays setting the stage ablaze.
