Vasco: To protect and restore the heritage natural spring from Bondeabhat-Sancoale, locals have written to Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSBCB) asking for its intervention and steps to stop the contamination and sewage release into the spring from unknown sources.
Speaking to this daily, local Paulo Fernandes from Bondeabhat informed that on Tuesday, Health officer of Cortalim Primary Health Centre inspected the natural spring at Bondeabhat. “After his inspection, we decided to write a letter to the GSPCB for their intervention and to inspect and take steps to stop the pollution of heritage natural spring,” he said.
“The local panch visited the site and listened to our grievances. Panch assured to do follow up with this matter. We were expecting that the sarpanch would come and see the scenario for himself, but till date he has not visited the natural spring site,” Fernandes said.
When contacted, Health Officer of Cortalim Primary Health centre, Soccoro Quadros acknowledged that he recently inspected the natural spring. He said that within two days time, he would collect the water samples from this natural spring and these samples will be sent for laboratory testing to find out about contamination.
