MARGAO: The Bailancho Ekvott, an NGO, has demanded the removal of the picture of the woman in the condom advertisement on the Kadamba buses.
Bailancho Ekvott convener Auda Viegas said, “In a State that has substantially high number of reported cases of HIV/AIDS, we appreciate the advertisement of condoms on the State operated Kadamba buses. It is a need of the hour to create awareness on safe and hygienic health care. This issue generally does not get addressed in the home and schools.”
“I fail to see the need to advertise the photo of ‘glamorous woman’ along with a condom to be used by men and called ‘Manforce’. This kind of advertisement is derogatory to women. Besides children too travel by these buses and their comprehension of the advertising a woman along with a condom could be wrong messaging/ awareness,” she said.
“We have always protested against hoardings which advertise vehicles/alcohol and display a woman above with such advertisements and have had such advertisements removed. We demand that the picture of the woman be immediately be removed,” she said.
