Governor visits Calangute, Siolim as part of Swayampurna Yatra

The Governor also interacted with elected representatives and heads of panchayats and felicitated some freedom fighters and sportsmen.

MAPUSA: Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai on Thursday visited Calangute and Siolim Constituencies as part of Goa Swayampurna Yatra. During his visit, the Governor  disbursed financial assistance to 20 beneficiaries of dialysis and cancer patients.

The Governor assured the people of Siolim and Calangute of providing all help by stating that he would give a blank cheque for development of the people.

He also visited Shri Shantadurga Temple at Calangute, St Lawrence Church, Aguada Fort Museum and St Anthony’s Church, Siolim in the presence of Calangute MLA Michael Lobo, Siolim MLA Delilah Lobo and other officials including Deputy Collector, Bardez BDO and others. 

The Governor also interacted with elected representatives and heads of panchayats and felicitated some freedom fighters and sportsmen.  

Calangute MLA Michael Lobo appreciated the Governor’s initiative of visiting the villages and having direct interaction with people. “We have seen so many Governors but it is for the first time in Goa that a Governor has come to the doorsteps of the common man,” said Lobo.
