PANJIM: Ahead of second term examination, the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) has issued new guidelines to schools to conduct examinations for students with disabilities, as per which compensatory time of not less than 20 minutes per hour of the examination should be allowed to those students who are eligible to have a scribe to write the exam.
The guidelines framed by the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, are issued following directions from the State Directorate of Social Welfare.

In the series of guidelines, the schools are directed to ensure that in case the candidate is allowed to bring his own scribe, the qualification of the scribe should be one step below the qualification of the candidate taking the examination.
“The candidate should be allowed to use aids and assistive devices such as prosthetics and orthotics, hearing aid, etc, as mentioned in the certificate issued by the medical authority. The candidates should also be allowed to take different scribe for different papers, especially in the case of languages. There should be flexibility in accommodating any change in scribe in case of emergency,” the guidelines stated.
However, the guidelines state that strict vigilance should be ensured to check misuse of the facility of scribe.
The Schools are directed hold the exams for such candidates at ground floor as much as possible and also to make the examination centres accessible.
