PANJIM: Laying to rest speculations on Congress forming government in Goa with the help of Goa Forward Party, Deputy Chief Minister Vijai Sardesai said that he and his party are very much part of National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
Sardesai told reporters in Panjim that the rumours were being played through newspapers had no truth in it.
Last week, Leader of Opposition Babu Kavlekar told Herald the Congress has offered Vijai the Chief Minister’s post and something would happen in few days.
“The speculations keep newspapers alive. I am a person who goes by my word. I don’t do things by hiding,” Sardesai said reacting to the statement that he would withdraw from government to form another alternative with the support of Congress.
GFP which had supported Manohar Parrikar-led government has continued their support with Sawant-led government, after the demise of then Chief Minister.
“I am a member of NDA. If NDA tells me that I am made CM then I will come and tell you,” he said.
On asked whether he was approached by Congress to form the government, Sardesai reacted “I am approached by everybody. But will I form the new government, after attending swearing in ceremony of Narendra Modi?”
Sardesai along with his party colleagues had attended swearing in ceremony of Modi in New Delhi.
He said that he is not in touch with Congress to form any government.
After the recent by-elections, BJP has become single largest party in the House with 17 MLAs, while Congress has 15. Goa Forward Party and Independents are three each while one each is from NCP and MGP.
