MGP backs Cong candidate in Mapusa

MAPUSA: The Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) officially declared to support to the Congress candidate in the Mapusa by-election on Saturday at the party office.
The party said that its workers would campaign with Congress workers for its candidate Sudhir Kandolkar.
MGP leader Vinod Phadke stated the party has unanimously decided to back the Congress candidate in Mapusa, Sudhir Kandolkar. He said that the MGP does not want an inexperienced candidate to be elected in Mapusa as, Phadke said, he would not be able to help run the affairs of the State.
“MGP had decided not to contest the election and hence our block committee has decided to support Kandolkar. He is not only an efficient candidate, but also capable of winning the seat. Nearly over 20 years he has been involved in politics and has been a part of the Municipality. He also has a good connect with the people and is easily accessible. We will work towards his victory and support him fully in his campaign. I have great confidence that he will undertake 100 percent development of Mapusa,” Phadke said.
Addressing reporters, MGP Mapusa Block President Adv Vaman Pandit said that a resolution had been taken by the block committee to extend its support to Kandolkar.
“The main purpose we are supporting him is to take development forward as there are no adequate facilities in Mapusa. We need an MLA who can take the development of Mapusa forward,” Pandit said.
