Tourism Master Plan by March next year

PANJIM: Goa Tourism’s Vision Plan (Master Plan) for the next 25 to 30 years will be ready by January 2016 and will be finalized by March 2016, Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar told the Assembly on Thursday.

Parulekar said that KPMG, which is working on the plan for the past six months, has submitted a draft plan to the department and by January 2016 they will submit the final report.
After receiving the Master Plan from the agency, suggestions from stakeholders including hoteliers, TTAG and others will be called and reviewed by Tourism Department before finalizing the Master Plan for Goa tourism, the minister said.
He added that connectivity to Goa is a problem and high rates are charged by flight operators, with the price of a flight ticket from Delhi to Goa being much higher than Goa to Dubai or Thailand.
Parulekar also said they have met the Union Railways minister and are seeking a direct train from Delhi to Goa with minimum stops to attract North Indian tourists.
