PANJIM: A wine shop, located near the Kadamba Bus Stand, Panjim was in flames early Sunday morning and timely intervention of fire officials averted a possible major mishap.
Fire officials said that at about 5:27am, security guard of a private bank’s ATM centre called up the control room informing that black smoke was emanating out of the shutter of the wine shop.
A fire brigade was rushed at the spot. The fire was later doused.
A loss of about Rs one lakh has been estimated.
It is learnt that fire started from the plug of the refrigerator. Investigations are on to find out the exact cause of the fire.
