PANJIM: The technical educational institutes in the State will remain closed till May 31 in view of prevailing COVID-19 pandemic.
In a circular issued on Monday, Director of Technical Education Dr Vivek Kamat said the government has decided that all technical educational institutes under the purview of Directorate of Technical Education shall remain closed till May 31.
The technical institutes include Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), National Institute of Technology (NIT), Goa Institute of Management (GIM) and BITS Pilani.
“However, heads of institutions may requisition the service of bare minimum staff to carry out essential administrative and accounts related functions, by adhering to all the norms of social distancing at the work place,” he said.
Kamat said that all other staff may work from home and be available on phone and electronic means of communication at all times, to attend to any exigencies of duty.
