MARGAO: Robbers struck again at will yet again in Margao when a 52-year-old woman was robbed of cash from her house at Mungul on Sunday evening.
The woman, however, fought back valiantly forcing the two robbers to make good their escape with only the cash amounting to Rs 40,000.
The incident occurred at around 4.45 pm Sunday evening when the two robbers effected entry into the house of Succorina Costa through the rear door on the pretext of seeking rented accommodation.
Once inside the house, the duo, who were wearing half pants and under the influence of alcohol, gagged the woman and took her to the living room. They opened the drawer and laid their hands on the cash and were insisting that the woman hand over the cupboard keys. In the scuffle, the miscreant fell down, giving Succorina space to open the front door and raise an alarm. As the scuffle continued for some time, one of the miscreants was attacked by the dog, while Succorina thrashed him with a danda.
They duo made good their escape with the cash, but could not lay their hands on other valuables following resistance from the woman.
The Margao police rushed to the scene of the offense to investigate the matter.
