Margao: Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco said the Goa government should simply declare that Goans are on their own, in their fight against coronavirus. He reacted sharply after 2 positive cases were found in Curtorim and Raia.

He lambasted the Central and State government for failing to control the spread of COVID in Goa and called for partial lockdowns wherever necessary.
“The lockdown had to continue in June as well. Partial lockdown will be needed otherwise it won’t be easy to handle the multiplying cases. I am worried that we will be like Maharashtra. We will have to take steps. The government decided to allow red carpet entry to their own favorites and party men” alleged Reginaldo.
He complained that doctors, nurses, medical staff and the district administration had worked really hard and commended their work though they had no gloves or personal protective equipment (PPE) for their safety.
Speaking on the newly detected COVID positive case in Curtorim, he said that the person had met his friends, played card games, and even went to the market. “The people of Curtorim are worried about their well-being,” said Reginaldo.
“Now that we are in trouble and it is obvious the government has to convince people that they are in safe hands. But if the government cannot protect, people will have to come on the streets to protest” he added.
