PANJIM: Almost 1000 buses, more than 1500 cars and thousands of two wheelers hit the State capital on Saturday but there were no major blocks at the entry and exit points or even inside the city. Traffic arrangements were systematically put in place right from Goa University, Dona Paula and Miramar from where Prime Minister Narendra Modi was travelling to Campal the venue of rally.
Light blocks were noticed at the major junctions in St Inez as traffic was diverted from internal roads to vacate the route of the Prime Minister’s motorcade.
The Bandodkar ground, Campal Parade ground were occupied by four wheelers. Besides, vehicles and motorcycles were parked in all the Campal lanes. Director General of Police Muktesh Chander was personally monitoring the traffic and other security aspects at the venue as well as other areas in the city.
Senior police officers were posted in the areas with responsibilities along with central paramilitary forces. Police were deployed on duty from both districts especially to control traffic flow.
