PANJIM: In the backdrop of the raid in Vagator, under Anjuna Police jurisdiction, the Goa Forward Party (GFP) has demanded complete revamp of the police station staff, alleging that the local police are being bribed.
GFP’s Siolim MLA and former minister Vinod Palyekar demanded that if Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant is incapable of handling the Home Department, then the same be handed over to Ports Minister Michael Lobo.

“I have been saying time and again that rave parties are in full swing in coastal belts. Local police stations are bribed. It’s high time that Anjuna police station staff is fully revamped including the Police Inspector,” Palyekar said.
He also demanded that the State needs a full-time Home Minister as the Chief Minister’s focus is on mining transportation.
“The Chief Minister has failed in curbing law and order in the State. His focus is on mining transportation activities,” he said.
“I feel Ports Minister Michael Lobo can perform better as Home Minister and hence he should be given the charge,” the MLA demanded.
Palyekar had been vocal about rising rave parties and involvement of police-drug nexus along the North coastal belt. He had even submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking his intervention and necessary directions to the State government.
Meanwhile, Independent MLA Rohan Khaunte congratulated DGP Mukesh Kumar Meena for Crime Branch raid on the rave party.
At the same time, he alleged a politician-drug mafia nexus at Calangute saying that DGP knows about it.
“Seldom do we get such officers who immediately act on their words and the action of @DGP_Goa Shri Mukesh Kumar Meena gives hope that Goa will be rid of the drug menace,” he tweeted.
“I have always been vociferous about the politician-drug mafia nexus in Calangute and its surrounding areas under the sponsorship of you know whom! This was the very reason that Quarantine Tourism was promoted so that the drug business is not affected by shortage of tourists,” he added.
“I hope this is just the beginning of a sustained action process that will help to bring out our youth from the clutches of drug addiction and drug peddling that’s destroying many a lives and homes in Goa,” the former minister tweeted.
