BENAULIM: Pedda Boys Varca defeated Santa Cruz of Cavelosim 6-5 via the tie-breaker to move into the quarter-finals of the Inter-Benaulim Constituency 9-a-side football tournament, organised by Pedda Benaulim, at St John the Baptist Church ground, Benaulim on Wednesday.
Santa Cruz Club of Cavelosim scored first through Alex Rodrigues in the 6th minute. Four minutes later, Colombian Noronha equalised for Pedda with a brilliant free-kick. At the other end, Joel Lobo scored for Pedda Boys to give them the lead.
However, Alex Rodrigues equalised in the dying minutes of the game for Santa Cruz club of Cavelosim. In the resultant tie-breaker, Delzon, Alex and Valerio scored for Cavelosim while Joel, Aaron, Colmbian, Joylan scored for Pedda Boys of Varca.
