MARGAO: Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club got the better of Ambelim SC 5-4 via the tie-breaker to move into the final of the 42nd Seamen Trophy Football tournament, organized by Chandor SC, at Chandor ground, on Sunday.
In the 14th minute, Ambelim SC scored through Roque Colaco off an assist by Blasco Fernandes.
Thereafter, Sao Jose de Areal tried to attack but Daryl’s move was foiled by the rival defence.
Crossing over, Ambelim SC increased the tempo and inflated their tally through Samson Simoes in the 41st minute.
However, Sao Jose de Areal SC did not give up and pulled a goal back through Daryl D’Costa in the 46th minute.
Subsequently, Sao Jose de Areal SC restored parity in the 58th minute through Ashwin Fernandes’ half volley.
In the tie-breaker, Sao Jose de Areal SC kept their cool and scored through Aggie Antao, Peter Costa and Ashwin Fernandes while Ambelim SC could not convert any chances.
