Committee to monitor Ebola preparedness

PANJIM: With the number Ebola cases inching towards 10,000 in West Africa, and few cases being reported in Europe and United States, Goa government has finally woken up to the threat and formed a core committee headed by Secretary Health Parimal Rai to monitor the State’s preparedness to tackle the virus.

Government stated that it has constituted a core committee to monitor the situation arising out of the Ebola Disease outbreak in West Africa and preparedness and response in the State, according to a press statement released Friday evening. 
The Committee headed by theSecretary (Health), has around 15 members such as Chairman of Mormugao Port Trust (MPT), Additional secretary Health, Director of Health services, Medical Superintendent GMC, Captain of Ports, Airport Director, Deputy Director Public Health, Director cum Medical Superintendent Hospicio and District Hospital Mapusa, Chief Medical officer and others.
