Betki PHC has commenced Rapid antigen test: Minister

PONDA: Art and Culture Minister and Priol MLA Govind Gaude on Thursday informed that Betki-Khandola Primary Health Centre (PHC) has started the rapid antigen test for detecting COVID-19 patients, the report of which is declared within 40 minutes.

He was speaking during his visit to the Betki Khandola PHC.  He said, “Even 126 swab have been collected by COVID warriors of this PHC in a single day and people should cooperate them by following social distancing and SOP.” 

Dr Brenda Pinto said, “The antigen test commenced on Monday. This is a very good test as report is declared in minutes.”  

On Thursday, 46 people underwent the antigen test. Since Monday around 99 people have been tested.” 

She said, “In case the antigen reports of patients test positive then their swabs are collected and sent to Sub District Hospital at Ponda for COVID confirmatory lab testing.”

Meanwhile, the PHC has collected 1644 swabs since last month and sent them to SDH Ponda for lab testing.

According to sources, nine members of a family from Wadi Wada- Betki Khandola tested positive, which prompted Gaude to visit the area. He advised the locals to take proper care. The COVID positive patients have been shifted to Shiroda Hospital.
