PANJIM: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered an offence of corruption against a former Commissioner of Customs, Mormugao. The identity of the then Commissioner of the Central Goods and Service Tax is not disclosed by the central agency.

As per information shared by the CBI, the FIR is registered on allegations of possessing assets to the tune of around Rs 1.30 crore disproportionate to his actual source of income. “It was alleged that the public servant while working as Commissioner of Customs during the period from January 1, 2011 to September 26, 2019 at various places had amassed the disproportionate assets, both movable & immovable in his name and in the name of his family members,” the details reveal.
The team has also conducted searches at Salem and Visakhapatnam that resulted in the recovery of incriminating evidence related to investments including in plots, flats, jewellery, etc.
