FATORDA: FC Goa had a perfect start to their campaign and coach Sergio Lobera will have ample of positives to take from the game. However, Wednesday evening’s battle with Chennaiyin FC was a special encounter for local lad Princeton Rebello, who was anxiously waiting to make his first appearance in the Indian Super League for the past one year.
As the assistant referee lifted the substitution board, the crowd cheered as the announcer introduced Princeton to the home crowd when he replaced Jackichand Singh.
“I feel lot confident. The start really made me happy. But I have to work lot more to earn my place in the playing eleven. So it’s a great moment for me,” said an excited Princeton Rebello following his debut.
Princeton managed to get few minutes on Wednesday but the youngster stated there is more to come in the future.
“This is just the beginning and I shall start from here. These five minutes will be precious moments for my life as I made my debut in the Indian Super League. I want to take it from here. I want to give a challenge to myself ahead in the season,” expressed FC Goa upcoming player Princeton Rebello.
FC Goa featured as many as eight domestic players with the final three minutes having maximum of seven Goan players in the side.
India Head coach Igor Stimac was present in the stand to witness the match as the two teams played for their first points of the campaign at Fatorda.
“He must have not noticed me. I have to work hard and earn more playing time so that I can catch his eyes,” explained Princeton.
In his few minutes on the pitch, Princeton had five passes and 1 clearance but the lad wants to gain his mentor’s faith as he finally managed to gain Lobera’s trust.
“It’s a motivation for me as coach believed and trusted me in these five minutes. So I have to gain his trust for a regular spot and I will soon achieve it,” added Princeton.
“In Goa there is lot of talent and especially at FC Goa there is quality. For me playing with them has helped me a lot and it inspires me a lot,” concluded Princeton.
