BENAULIM: Loyola School Margao, defeated Mount Mary High School, Chichinim, to emerge victorious at the 5-a-side inter-school invitational U-16 football tournament organised by Don Bosco Youth Benaulim, recently
The solitary goal of the final was scored by Yohan of Loyola HS as his strike went past two defenders into the nets in a high voltage fight between the two teams.
Earlier, in the first semi-final Our Lady of Carmel were knocked out by Mount Mary HS, Chichinim and in the second semi-final Loyola School, knocked out St Mary’s Varca.
The player of the tournament was awarded to Kane Dias (Mount Mary HS, Chichinim), best defender Aaron Rodrigues (St Mary’s HS, Varca) and highest scorer Denson Fernandes (Mount Mary HS, Chichinim).
Chief guest of the tournament Fr Eremito, chaplin of Patrocin Chapel, Benaulim gave away the prize to the winners which consisted of Rs. 5000and trophy while Fr Austin gave away the prize of Rs. 3,000 and trophy to the runners-up; individual prizes were given by Youth President Sharonelle.
