PANJIM: The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Goa has ruled out mid-term elections in the State as it has expressed confidence the government will complete its ongoing term under Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant.
“We will complete the full term. We are not in favour of mid-term elections,” Party President Sadanand Shet Tanavde told reporters at a press conference, on Thursday.

Earlier, the Chief Minister had also ruled out midterm elections for the State and asserted that the government will complete full term. Regarding the municipal elections, postponed till April; Tanavde said the party will select its candidates in consultation with its MLAs. Meanwhile, the party has scheduled a day-long State Executive Committee meeting in the capital city on February 9, which will be attended by Union Minister Giriraj Singh and Goa Desk In-Charge C T Ravi.
BJP Goa is also expecting Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to Goa as he is scheduled to address a rally in Maharashtra.
