Our Canacona BSNL telecom building resembles a haunted mansion with no living soul, but for a single lass, who is explicitly stationed to collect cash from its customers.
Frankly speaking, I chose BSNL being our national flag bearer over Idea, at the very onset when telecom facility was introduced at Canacona. It was seen as a sign of development and progress; necessity rather than a luxury.
I had high hopes of BSNL being a national telecom network venture that it would lead the way to the other great names in telecom sector such as Idea, Vodafone, Airtel and Jio. But, to my utter dismay and disbelief, it has become a laughing stock like the Maharaja of Air India.
Both, BSNL and the Maharaja are humiliated by their corresponding counterparts. And what could be the reason other than corruption and lethargy at the topmost level?
Regarding, the efficiency of the staff and the other employees it is most deplorable. In spite of the hue and cry, there is poor connectivity for internet and resultantly the Wi-Fi, with frequent stoppages in transmission. The other day, I went to complain about the lack of service, my dead landline and don’t get me started about the internet and Wi-Fi.
There were many others like me who came to ask for help. The lone girl who was stationed there said she was fed-up because everyone was bombarding her with various complaints.
The helpless lass finally told them to write the complaints on the book provided for the purpose and that their complaints will be attended — what a hoax!
She admitted that she is new to the place and has been routinely deputed for collection of cash from the customers. It is a well know fact that majority of the staff at BSNL have availed Voluntary Retirement Service and said goodbye to their parent company and are enjoying life without tension, whereas the customers have to suffer from hypertension.
The one thing that BSNL is prompt and faithful in doing is to remind its customers of the amount due to be paid on or before such and such date or to face disconnection of services. Alas! What a pathetic and humiliating state our national telecom sector is mired in. God save BSNL!
