5 cheating accused remanded to 14 days police custody

The five accused arrested by Mapusa police in connection with the cheating case on Thursday night has been remanded to 14 days police custody.
It may be recalled that Khalid Sheikh (driver), Sameer Bhatiza, Zamir Sheikh, Tanvir Khan and Imran Khan from Thana-Mumbai were arrested on charges of cheating computer dealer Harshad Govekar from Mapusa to the tune of Rs 3.68 lakh.
Speaking to Herald, Mapusa PI Rajesh Kumar said Bhatiza, Zamir Sheik, Tanvir Khan and Imran Khan hired a Tavera car (MH-04-DR-4502) from Dadar-Mumbai and arrived in Goa on Thursday.
“They submitted a pay order for Rs 3,68,600 drawn in the name of ‘Computer House’ by a bank in Andheri to Harshad Govekar towards supply of six laptops and six desktops,” said PI Kumar.
“On verification with the bank in Mapusa, it was revealed that the bank in Andheri did not issue any pay order in the name of ‘Computer House’ for Rs 3,68,600,” added PI Kumar.
“Police arrested the four accused and car driver Khalid Sheikh and also seized the car in which they had come down to Goa,” informed PI Kumar.
The accused were produced before JMFC on Friday afternoon and have been remanded to 14 days police custody, he said.
