MAPUSA: Anna Vaddo drubbed YBA 5-1 to advance into the Candolim inter-ward football tournament, organised by Araddy Boys, at Candolim ground, on Thursday.
It was Anna Vaddo colts who scored two quick goals in the 4th and 15th minutes. Prakash Rathod scored for Ana Vaddo off a through pass from Nascent Dsouza, while minutes later Nasent DSouza tapped the ball into the net off a cross from Prakash Rathod 2-0.
YBA got back into the match with Joel Colaco scoring after connecting to a Sidharth Bandodkar cross, 2-1.
On crossing over, Anna Vaddo pumped in three more goals. Prakash Rathod made it 3-1 for Ana Vaddo. Nascent D’Souza guided the ball into the goal off a cross from Prakash Rathod, 4-1.
Sarvesh hammered in the fifth goal, after getting hold off a cross from Ayush Arolkar. Anna Vaddo were clearly the dominant side between the two sides as they outplayed their opponent in a one-sided affair.
In the second match, Murrod Boys got the better of Brothers of Orda by 4-2 margin via tie-breaker. The match ended in a 1-1 draw.
In the 10th minute Orda took the lead through Joel Fernandes whose corner-kick went straight into the goal,1-0.
Five minutes later Orda defender brought down Saish Baghkar inside the penalty box prompting the referee to point to the penalty spot. Nehal Naik stepped over and scored for Murrod to level terms, 1-1. The teams were tied 1-1 at the break.
Crossing over, both the sides were restricted to midfield battle during the initial stages. The teams went all-out in the final quarter of the game but they were undone by poor finishing from their strikers.
In the penalty shootout for Murrod colts, Stephen, Nehal Naik and Sigmund were on target. For Orda only Sidharth scored.
