Tanzania settle for third place

VASCO: Tanzania blanked Malaysia 3-0 to settle for the third place in the AIFF Youth Cup under-16 football tournament played at Tilak Maidan, Vasco, on Wednesday. Tanzania were leading 3-0 in the first half.

Tanzania came close to scoring in the very third minute but Maulid Salum Lembe’s shot went over the cross piece of Malaysia goal.
They drew the first blood in the 13th minute through the efforts of Mohammed Rashid Abdallah, who after dribbling past two Malaysia players inside the box, shot straight into the rival goal. Mushsini Malima Makame assisted.
Malaysia’s attempted to equalize but Muhammad N Bin Jazi free-kick in the 34th minute kissed the cross bar of Tanzania and went out.
Tanzania made it 2-0 in the 41st minute. Nickson C Kibabage connected the ball to Asad Ali Juma, who in turned passed to Shabani Z Ada to net in. Thereafter, in the injury time of first half, Muhsini Malima Makame made it 3-0 after the ball deflected the rival defender.
Change of ends saw Malaysia trying to score but Tanzania defence wall stood tall as solid rock. In the 56th minute, Mohammed N Bin Jazi of Malaysia shot was denied by the cross piece of Tanzania goal. Mohammed Faris Bin shot wide for Tanzania in the 78th minute.
