PONDA: MGP leader Ramakrishna (Sudin) Dhavalikar, welcoming decision to close schools till March 31 in view of Covid 19 outbreak, demanded on Saturday the Chief Minister to show guts and cancel the government sponsored Shigmo parade from Sunday.
“Failure to cancel Shigmo parade is a sign that this administration is weak in decision making,” he said.

“Why the chief minister left the decision of organising Shigmo to the committee?” he questioned.
Campaigning at Curti for the party’s candidate Priya Chari for the Zilla polls, he said, “In view of Covid-19 outbreak, the steps taken by government to keep the schools and colleges closed till March 31; and the measures taken by it are good and deserve appreciation. But if the virus spreads and causes deaths due to the Shigmo parade, then, who would be responsible for it?” he asked.
He suggested that as the head of the State, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant should have the guts to cancel the Shigmo parades from Sunday. “But he is lacking the courage?” he quipped.
“Since Shigmo commences from Ponda, maximum number of participants from all over Goa participate in it. Since the troupes have already made preparations, the government should reimburse them their expenditure. This would have solved the issue,” he said.
He also alleged that the chief minister failed to take the right decision on Mhadei issue. “When he met Prime Minister Narandera Modi, he should have demanded scrapping of Kalsa Bandura Project in Karnataka, instead the CM asked Modi not to give any approval to Karnataka till the matter in SC is resolved,” he said.
