PANJIM: With Election Commission of India (ECI) issuing notification for State election on Monday, the process to file nominations for March 3 Goa polls will also begin.
Though the official announcement of state elections was made in December, the notification for the elections in the State would be issued on February 6.
The last date for filing nomination would be February 13. As per the guidelines issued by ECI, not more than five people and three vehicles would be allowed with the candidate while filing the nomination. The commission has also put restriction on carrying out rallies, during that period.
The scrutiny of the nominations would begin from February 14. The last date for withdrawal of nominations has been fixed as February 16, which will also make the picture clear about the final candidates. The polls would be held on March 3 and the votes would be counted on March 6. The election process would be completed by March 9.
While parties like Congress, Trinamool Congress and Goa Vikas Party have already declared their candidates in some constituencies, parties like BJP, MGP and NCP are likely to declare in next two days.
This year, numbers of polling stations have been increased to 1,612 from 1,338, while polling station locations have also been increased to 1,194 from 978.
