VASCO: Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai on Wednesday called upon the people to unite once again to develop India into an economic and cultural super power that it is destined to be.
The Governor was speaking as the chief guest at a concluding programme organised by the Mormugao Port Authority (MPA) as part of the “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM) and to commemorate the 75th anniversary of India’s Independence held at Mormugao.
Speaking further, Sreedharan spoke about the immense sacrifices that many freedom fighters, soldiers and millions of people had to endure for the independence of the country. He highlighted the role of great leaders like Mahatma Gandhi and many others, who galvanised the whole country to fight together as one. As country is celebrating 75 years of independence, he rallied the crowd to unite once again to develop India into an economic and cultural superpower that it is destined to be.
As a part of this celebration, the MPA as directed by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) conducted various timeline activities, entrusted under AKAM.
During the function, retired employees were felicitated for their distinguished service to the port sector, CISF officials and stakeholders were felicitated for their achievements and students for participating in various competitions organised under the AKAM.
