RAIA: Curtorim Gymkhana booked their spot in the final of 23rd Fr Basilio Andrade football tournament with a spirited comeback against St Sebastian Youth Club, Murida, scoring a 4-2 win in a tense penalty shoot-out, at Musson ground, Majorda, on Friday.

Despite facing a two-goal deficit, Curtorim Gymkhana displayed determination and resilience to come on level terms securing a final clash against Dicarpale Sports Club.

St Sebastian Youth Club took an early lead through Hanslum, who first found the net after skill-fully setting up Edgar and then following up with a composed finish in the Curtorim Gymkhana box.

Soon after, Hanslum doubled the lead with a left-footed strike after an excellent build-up with Elroy Barreto. St Sebastian Youth Club seemed in control, but Curtorim Gymkhana fought back, and their persistence paid off when Freddy Hilario rose to head in a corner which St Sebastian Youth Club goalkeeper failed to clear, bringing the game within reach.

Just before the final whistle, Veron Fernandes equalised with a spectacular half-volley from outside the box, sending the match to penalties.

In the penalty shoot-out, Curtorim Gymkhana converted all their spot kicks. Curtorim Gymkhana’s Goalkeeper Johnson denied Glen and Hanslum to secure a memorable victory and send his team into final.

With this display of grit, Curtorim Gymkhana now face Dicarpale Sports Club in what promises to be a thrilling showdown to cap off a fantastic tournament.
